Registration is open now for my 2021 9-month Folk Herbalism course!
Yes! I will be offering the Folk Herbalism course this year!
My goal for this course is to take you to a place where you are comfortable using the medicinal herbs for the daily needs of yourself and your family. Folk herbalism was once commonplace among all cultures. People were empowered to work with the healing plants growing all around us for their daily health challenges. We can reclaim that knowledge and that power, and begin once again to cultivate relationship with the healing plants.
The Folk Herbalism Course will offer experience with…
herbal medicine making, including teas, tinctures, infused oils, vinegars, salves, creams, and more
developing your own materia medica (the herbs you know and work with intimately)
begin growing a medicinal herb garden to harvest from throughout the season
begin learning plant families to help you identify wild healing plants
herbal energetics and how taste gives us clues to the medicinal actions of herbs
making and using flower essences
creating an herbal first aid bag
plant communication--the art of opening yourself to the plant spirits
herbal formulation--begin to develop your own recipes by combining plants that work together in combination
topical uses of herbs
Because of the uncertainty involved in planning a physical event for 2021 without knowing how the pandemic will be playing out at that time, I'm modifying the course a bit. First, this course will be limited to 8 people. This will allow us to meet together outside, even if we need to wear masks and keep a safe distance. Second, it will be a hybrid course next year. In-person classes will be 2 to 3 hours long, and we will also meet online once a month as well. This will limit our in-person time together, but still allow us to be with the plants and the medicine for some time.
We will meet one Saturday a month, from March through to November. In-person classes will be 2 to 3 hours long, with a short break. These classes will include some discussion, some sharing, and some hands-on working with the plants in the garden and kitchen, with possibly a couple of field trips thrown in. We will also have one virtual class a month to check-in, answer questions and go over additional material.

Again, there are only 8 spots available for this year’s course. Once they are full registration closes.
If you are ready to register and grab a spot, send me an email at nettlejuice@gmail.com.
I can’t wait to see who will be joining me this year!
Big plans for my patrons…
I want to send out a big thank you to everyone who subscribed to my Patreon page, An Herbalist’s Journal, this year. You all took a chance with me as I tried something new and learned how to make it work. I hope everyone has been enjoying the posts about medicine making and the monthly monographs.
This month’s monograph is all about elecampane!
I’ve also recently written about making an immunomodulating tea, helping kids with sore throats, and my own personal tooth powder recipe.
This year I am going to be trying some new ideas in the journal, starting with some video posts! I also plan on offering patron-only live classes once I get 50 subscribers!
If you are curious, come check it out. You can subscribe for only $3 a month and get instant access to all the content at that level.
As always, hand-crafted herbal medicine is available for purchase at my Etsy store. I have especially been relying on the Heart Cordial and the Nerve Support Formula lately. You can see all the medicine I have available here…
Stay safe and make good medicine,
April
